Step 1: Adoption Application (a.k.a. “Let’s Find Your Perfect Paw Match” 🐾)

Before you meet your future best friend, we ask that all potential adopters fill out a quick application. Don’t worry—it’s faster than teaching a puppy to sit (okay… maybe about the same).

We need a little info to make sure we’re setting you and your future dog up for success:

Your lifestyle & vibe

  • Are you an on-the-go, hike-every-weekend kind of human, or more of a “Netflix and snacks” professional?

  • Flying solo, coupled up, or running a full-on kid circus?

  • Looking for a marathon buddy… or a couch potato?

Your living situation

  • Mansion? Apartment? Farm with 47 chickens? We don’t judge.

  • Do you have a fenced yard, or will your dog be perfecting their leash strut?

  • City lights or country nights?

  • Anyone in the home allergic to dogs (besides that one friend who still visits anyway)?

Your pet experience

  • Are you a seasoned dog whisperer or a first-time treat dispenser?

  • Do you have a favorite breed, size, or “must be fluffy like a cloud” requirement?

All of this helps us play matchmaker and find a dog that fits your life—not just for the cute puppy phase. Because the goal isn’t just adoption… it’s a happily ever after (with fur on everything).

Step 2: Virtual Home Check (MTV Cribs: Dog Edition 🐶🏡)

Time to show off your space! We just want to make sure your future pup is headed to a safe, happy home.

You can choose one of the following (pick your adventure):

  • 🎥 A quick 20–30 second video walk through of your home (bonus points for a grand tour voice over)

  • 📸 Photos of all the areas your new pup will have access to

  • 📱 A short Face Time/video call with our team (we promise we’re friendly)

That’s it! Easy, painless, and no white-glove inspection required.

We just want to make sure your pup’s new home is ready for zoomies, naps, and lots of love 🐾

Step 3: Meet the Pup (a.k.a. “The Moment Everything Changes” )

Now for the best part—you get to meet your potential new best friend in person!

We’ll schedule a time for you to hang out, get acquainted, and see if it’s love at first sniff (it usually is).

If all goes well you are able take your pup home the same day if everyone feels they are a good fit. Yes, really. No dramatic goodbye scene required.

We’ll also walk you through our quick adoption checkout—just a few minutes, a few clicks, and… you’re officially owned by a dog.

Congratulations in advance on your new supervisor, cuddle expert, and full-time shadow.

Important Adoption Terms (The Fine Print… But Friendly 🐾)

A few important things to know before you bring your new best friend home:

  • Adoption fees are non-refundable
This means we will work very hard as a team to find you the perfect match—adoption fees go toward rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for more amazing pups. (so your good deed keeps on giving)

  • We’ve got your back
Questions? Concerns? Moments? Updates? You can always reach out—we’re here to help before, during, and after adoption.

Thank you for being part of our mission and for caring enough to be part of the solution to California’s dog crisis.

Who We Are (Spoiler: It’s All About the Dogs 🐶)

We’re a 501(c)(3) U.S. federal tax-exempt nonprofit and a fully foster-based rescue—which is a fancy way of saying we run on heart, hustle, and a whole lot of dog hair.

Here’s what that means:

  • We’re foster-based

No big shelter or facility here—our dogs are living their best lives in foster homes, not kennels. It’s basically a network of doggy Airbnbs.

  • All heart, no payroll
No one on our team is paid. We’re powered entirely by volunteers, caffeine, and an unreasonable love for dogs.

  • Every dollar goes to the dogs
Donations and adoption fees help fund spay/neuter, medical care, foster supplies and ongoing rescue efforts.

  • Foster-based = different return process
Because we don’t have a facility, dogs can’t be dropped off at a shelter. If something isn’t working out, we’ll work with you directly to make sure the pup stays safe and cared for.

We’re here for the long haul—for the dogs, and for the humans lucky enough to love them. 🐾

What’s included in the adoption fee?

We are happy you asked. All dogs rescued by Paw Match Southern California are taken to our vet to ensure they are healthy, age is consistent from what we were told, spayed/neutered and given proper tests and vaccines and preventatives as needed.

These include, but not limited to: Spay or Neuter,, DAPP/DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies (if age eligible),De-Wormer, Flea & Tick Preventative (oral), Microchip, 4DX Test (for dogs from higher tick populations), Parvo and Distemper Test (for dogs from higher risk areas)
